NDA 2026 Eligibility Criteria, Height & Weight Requirements

The National Defence Academy (NDA) 2026 is one of the most prestigious defence training programs in India, preparing candidates for careers in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Aspiring candidates need to meet specific eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications, age limits, nationality requirements, and physical standards, to qualify for the NDA examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Understanding these eligibility norms is crucial to ensure a smooth application process and successful selection.

1. Educational Qualification

For NDA 2026, the educational requirements vary depending on the wing a candidate is applying for:

  • Indian Army: Candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board.

  • Indian Navy & Air Force: Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics.

These qualifications ensure that candidates possess the fundamental knowledge required for technical and leadership roles in the armed forces.

2. Age Criteria

The age limit for NDA 2026 is strict and must be adhered to:

  • Candidates must be between 16.5 years and 19.5 years on the date specified by UPSC in the official notification.

  • Any candidate born before or after the specified date will be disqualified from appearing in the examination.

This age range ensures that candidates are at the right stage of physical and mental development to undergo the rigorous training at the academy.

3. Nationality

  • Height: Minimum height for Army candidates is usually 157.5 cm, while for Navy and Air Force, it is 162.5 cm.

  • Weight: Weight must be proportionate to the candidate’s height. UPSC provides a detailed chart to ensure candidates meet the ideal Body Mass Index (BMI) standards.

Other physical requirements include good vision, normal chest measurements, and no major physical deformities, ensuring candidates can withstand the demanding training regimen.

5. Medical Fitness

Candidates must clear a medical examination conducted at the Services Selection Board (SSB). This includes:

  • General physical assessment

Any candidate with medical conditions that may hinder training or duty performance may be disqualified.

Conclusion

Meeting the NDA 2026 eligibility, height, and weight criteria is the first essential step toward a career in India’s armed forces. Aspirants must ensure they fulfill all educational, age, nationality, and physical standards before applying. Regular physical training, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and understanding the selection requirements are crucial to successfully clearing the NDA exam and joining the elite ranks of the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force.

YOUR DEFENCE JOURNEY STARTS HERE

Your Defence Journey Starts Here

Choosing a career in the armed forces is not just about a job—it is about honor, discipline, courage, and service to the nation. Every successful officer and soldier once stood at the same starting point, with a dream in their heart and determination in their mind. If you are passionate about wearing the uniform and serving the country, your defence journey begins with the right training, guidance, and environment.

The First Step Towards a Proud Career

The path to joining the Army, Navy, or Air Force requires strong physical fitness, mental toughness, and academic preparation. Many aspirants fail not because they lack talent, but because they lack proper direction. A structured training program helps students understand the selection process, build confidence, and prepare effectively for written exams, physical tests, and interviews.

Why Early Preparation Matters

Starting early gives you a major advantage. It helps you:

  • Build strong physical endurance

  • Improve discipline and daily routine

  • Develop leadership qualities

  • Strengthen academic fundamentals

  • Prepare confidently for competitive exams

Early preparation also reduces stress and gives you enough time to improve your weak areas.

Complete Training Under One Roof

A good defence training institute provides all essential facilities in one place. This includes:

  • Daily physical training

  • Written exam coaching

  • SSB interview preparation

  • English communication skills

  • Personality development

  • Hostel and mess facilities

  • Sports and outdoor activities

Such an environment transforms students into confident and disciplined defence aspirants.

Physical Fitness: The Foundation of Success

Physical strength and stamina are crucial for every defence candidate. Regular running, obstacle training, push-ups, drills, and endurance exercises build the stamina required for selection. Consistent physical training not only improves fitness but also develops mental toughness and confidence.

Written Exam Preparation

Defence exams like NDA, Agniveer, and other entries require strong knowledge of mathematics, general knowledge, reasoning, and English. Proper classroom coaching, regular tests, and doubt-clearing sessions help students perform well in written examinations.

Personality and Leadership Development

The armed forces look for leaders, not just candidates. Training programs focus on:

  • Communication skills

  • Stage speaking

  • Group discussions

  • Confidence-building activities

  • Leadership exercises

These qualities play a major role during SSB interviews and throughout a defence career.

Discipline: The Core of Defence Life

Discipline is the backbone of every successful defence aspirant. A fixed daily routine, respect for rules, punctuality, and a positive attitude shape a student into a responsible and focused individual. Discipline learned during training stays for life and helps in every stage of a defence career.

A Supportive and Motivating Environment

Training alongside like-minded aspirants creates healthy competition and motivation. Guidance from experienced instructors, especially those with defence backgrounds, gives students real insights into the armed forces and the selection process.

Your Dream, Your Mission

Every great journey begins with a single step. If your dream is to wear the uniform, lead with pride, and serve the nation, the time to start is now. With the right training, dedication, and guidance, success in defence exams is achievable.

Start Today, Lead Tomorrow

Your defence journey does not begin on the day of selection—it begins the day you decide to prepare. Take that first step with determination, train with discipline, and move closer to your dream of becoming a proud member of the armed forces.

SUCCESS IS THE RESULT OF DAILY TRAINING

Success Is the Result of Daily Training

Success is not created in a single day. It is built step by step, habit by habit, and effort by effort. Every great achiever, whether in sports, academics, or the defence forces, reaches the top because of one simple principle—daily training. Consistent effort, discipline, and dedication turn ordinary individuals into extraordinary performers.

Daily training is the foundation of success. When you train every day, you improve your physical strength, mental focus, and emotional stability. Even small improvements, when repeated regularly, create powerful results over time. A cadet who practices running every day will build stamina. A student who studies daily will gain deeper knowledge. A person who wakes up early and follows a disciplined routine will naturally become more productive and confident.

Many people think success comes from sudden motivation or a single big opportunity. In reality, success is the result of countless small actions repeated daily. The soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces do not become strong overnight. They train every day—running, exercising, studying, and practicing drills. This consistent training prepares them to face any challenge with courage and confidence.

Daily training also builds discipline, which is the backbone of success. Discipline teaches you to stay focused even when you feel tired or distracted. It helps you control your habits, manage your time, and stay committed to your goals. Over time, discipline becomes a part of your personality, and success follows naturally.

Another important benefit of daily training is self-confidence. When you train regularly, you start seeing improvements in your performance. These small victories boost your confidence and motivate you to aim higher. Confidence, built through daily effort, gives you the courage to face exams, competitions, and life’s challenges.

At Manasa Defence Academy, this principle of daily training is followed strictly. Cadets are trained every day with a structured routine that includes physical training, academic classes, and personality development sessions. This disciplined environment helps students build strength, knowledge, and confidence, preparing them for defence exams and future careers.

Success does not come from luck or shortcuts. It comes from daily effort, strong habits, and a disciplined routine. If you want to achieve your dreams—whether it is joining the armed forces, clearing an exam, or becoming a leader—start with daily training. Small steps taken every day will lead you to great success in the future.

Remember:
Train daily, stay disciplined, and success will follow you.
