The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the gateway to becoming an officer in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force. 1. NDA Entry Process

• Candidates can apply for NDA after completing 10+2 (PCM required for Navy & Air Force).

• Selection involves Written Exam (UPSC NDA) followed by SSB Interview.

• Medical fitness and merit list decide the final selection.

2. Training at NDA

• Selected candidates undergo 3 years of rigorous training at the NDA, Pune.

• Training includes academics, physical fitness, drills, weapons handling, leadership, and discipline.

• After 3 years, cadets are awarded a degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

3. Specialized Training

• Army Cadets go to Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.

• Navy Cadets join the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.

• Air Force Cadets train at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad.

4. Commission as an Officer

After completing specialized training, cadets are commissioned as:

• Lieutenant in the Indian Army

• Sub Lieutenant in the Indian Navy

• Flying Officer in the Indian Air Force

5. Career Growth of NDA Officers

• Army: Lieutenant → Captain → Major → Colonel → Brigadier → Major General → Lieutenant General → General

• Navy: Sub Lieutenant → Lieutenant → Lieutenant Commander → Commander → Captain → Commodore → Rear Admiral → Vice Admiral → Admiral

• Air Force: Flying Officer → Flight Lieutenant → Squadron Leader → Wing Commander → Group Captain → Air Commodore → Air Vice Marshal → Air Marshal → Air Chief Marshal
